Believe it or not, nearly two years have passed since my first book, American Spirit: Wild Turkey Bourbon from Ripy to Russell, was published. After two successful paperback printings, I’m proud to say that the third printing of American Spirit is a hardcover edition (with a few edits to boot). Now that it’s a reality, I’m excited to share it with you.

American Spirit tells the story of Wild Turkey bourbon, starting with the Ripy family in nineteenth-century Kentucky, through the world’s once-largest wholesale grocer, Austin, Nichols & Co., to the Russell family we know and love today. There’s page after page of research, narrated in my informal, not-a-textbook tone and detailed with stellar photography by the talented Victor Sizemore. But it’s not just brand history, there’s a section dedicated to whiskey expressions, both common and rare, with my tasting notes, impressions, and a few cocktail recipes for good measure.

This deluxe hardback edition of American Spirit is available exclusively on my publisher’s website for $24.95 (plus shipping). While the paperback edition remains on Amazon and various online retailers at a discounted price, due to the expense of the hardcover printing and Amazon’s steep wholesale cut, I have no plans to sell this edition on the Amazon network. But look at it this way – for the price of a single bottle of Wild Turkey 101, you’ll have a whiskey reference guide that’ll never run dry. You’ll also help out a full-time author, which I sincerely appreciate.

With Father’s Day around the corner, American Spirit would make an excellent gift for any whiskey-loving dad. There’s also eBook formats (Kindle, Apple, and PDF) for those gifting last-minute or electronically. But this isn’t just a book for dads, it’s for any fan of bourbon. So take a second and check it out. And as always, thanks for your support!
