It’s hard to believe I’ve been writing about Wild Turkey for almost five years. Each week, I sit down and bang the ol’ keys. Sometimes I know exactly what I’ll write, other times I haven’t a clue, but somehow, I manage to pull it off. Of course, it helps that I’m driven by a passion for the world’s best bourbon whiskey (occasionally fueled by it too). It’s work, but damn if I don’t love doing it.

In celebration of five years of Rare Bird 101, I’m composing a special book – Wild Turkey Musings: A Whiskey Writer’s Retrospective. It’s a compilation of sorts – a collection of personal favorites and historically relative posts that not only tell the story of Wild Turkey, but reflect a deeper appreciation for the brand and its place in bourbon history. Along with these selections I’m including previously unpublished commentary – the who, what, how, or why behind each article – as well as new charts, graphs, and maps. It’s a personal endeavor, much like American Spirit, but I need your help to make it a reality.

Yesterday, I launched my Kickstarter campaign for Wild Turkey Musings. I’m honored to report that as of this post, it’s over 60% funded. Unbelievable. The generosity of the whiskey community and the connections I’ve made over the years is humbling. I’m sincerely grateful for the support of so many wonderful people. Thanks to you, this goal is within sight. We’re not there yet, but I’m hopeful the next few weeks will make the difference.

If you’re interested in seeing this project succeed or would like more information on Wild Turkey Musings, please visit my Kickstarter page. There’s various levels of support, many offering exclusive rewards for backing the project. Alternatively, support pledged via Patreon will help Musings come to life as well.

Regardless, I thank you for five incredible years of reading, commenting, sharing, and inspiring me to write. None of this would be possible without you.

All the best,

David Jennings
